Pick of the week: Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial

More tomorrow hopefully, maybe....busy busy week at work.

Going with Kenny Perry, Zach Johnson, Geoff Ogilvy.

Something is telling me that Luke Donald will have a good week as well. He's hot, so wouldn't mind seeing his mug on tv. I would love love love to see John Mallinger win. He's playing so great...he definitely is a guy who you want to win.

Pick of the week: Byron Nelson

I know I'm a little late again in getting my pick out there....but in my defense, we got the sad news that Amy Mickelson was diagnosed with breast cancer, and we had television crews in our office all day. I was a bit distracted.

So, this week I'm actually just purely guessing. I'm not really feeling one certain player over another.

Brian Davis has been playing great, so I"ll go with him. I don't really know anything about him though, other than he tied for 5th last week at the Texas Open. Maybe he'll have a good streak and play well deep in the heart of Texas.

My biased pick for the 2nd straight week in a row goes to Charley Hoffman. Texas likes him, he plays well there. He's awesome. Going with him.

Proving it.

Seriously, they look alike no?

It's about damn time...

I finally picked a winner! Granted it was at a smaller tournament with a not so glamorous field, but still. Zach Johnson won on the first playoff hole to defend his title at the Texas Open.

I was a little bummed that Bill Haas couldn't pull out the win...it would have been good to see. I do really like Zach Johnson though. Exciting for Haas to have played such a good four days of golf...it's a shame he's almost completely bald underneath his hat because he is pretty hot. He and Nick Watney look so much alike. Dream pairing perhaps? Here's Bill with his Dad, Jay Haas.

I don't want to be gossip girl or anything, but Bill might be more interested in scoring with the ladies, than scoring on the course. I've heard multiple times how he just chats girls up by the putting green and I've actually witnessed it in action. Oh well, he's a pro athlete....that's what they're supposed to do right?

Pick of the week: Valero Texas Open

A little late again on getting my pick of the week....nothing like a hometown favorite. Justin Leonard, he's won before at the Texas Open and I think I'll put my money on him. I found this picture hilarious....

Zach Johnson. He's playing great and has a great shot in this field to walk away the winner

Charley Hoffman. How can you not love this Southern California's guy attitude, demeanor, and style? He's a terrific player with a terrific family...his dad is still working on setting me up with a certain pro.

Happy National Golf Day!

1. Yes, it's an actual day. Golf has a day.
2. Why am I at work today? Shouldn't this be a holiday in my industry?

You might think this day is useless and I actually might agree with you, but there is no other sport that gives back to charity and local communities than the PGA. I'm of course a little biased, I was raised in a golf family, grew up watching my dad give his time to Inner City golf and do charity events, but you can't ignore the numbers.

A study released last year at the inaugural National Golf Day, the 2005 Golf Economy Report, quantified golf's annual direct economic impact as $76 billion, and highlighted the fact that the industry provides 2 million jobs and $61 billion in wage income. The study also found that golf generates more than $3.5 billion annually for charities across the country.

Every player is encouraged to participate in a charity of choice, and I'd venture to say 100% of them do in some capacity. It's really great and they do some amazing things.

So happy national golf day! Go to the driving range and have a beer. I know I'm going to.

"GET IN THE HOLE"

If you are one of the many who insist on yelling this after someone hits off the tee of a Par 4 or 5.... I want you to choke on a peanut.

More to come tomorrow.

Day One: Players Championship

I love that I can watch a live feed of the 17th hole while I'm working....very relaxing but stressful with this insane hole.

Perhaps the golfer hurting the most after the first round is Steve Lowery. He had a QUINTUPLE BOGEY at the infamous No. 17 Island Green. That has gotta hurt. Here's what it looked like on shotlink:

First shot - in the water
Penalty Stroke
Third shot - back bank
Penalty Stroke
Fifth shot - on the green
Sixth shot - putting
Seventh shot - still putting
Eighth shot - in the hole

My picks are doing alright so far, one day down - still a lot of time to rise up the leaderboard. Especially with the course playing so great. I absolutely love that John Mallinger is tied for 2nd. He's such a nice guy. and pretty adorable.

Pick of the week: Players Championship

I mean, I gotta go with Tiger. Tiger, Phil, and Furyk I have a good feeling about. Which probably means they won't make it in the Top 10, but we'll see. Hopefully tomorrow will be a slow day at work so I can watch the live feed!

Second day in a row that Nick had a practice round with Tiger...that's so awesome. Here's a shot of them on the infamous 17th green at TPC Sawgrass. There are 7 people on the green, i have no idea who anyone is. Just be content in knowing that one of the guys is Tiger, one is Nick, and one is Jim Furyk.

Tiger His Woods

This picture is from the practice round today at the Players Championship. Watney paired up with Tiger...I'm pretty sure Watney will definitely be on the Ryder Cup team this year. He played a practice round with Fred Couples at The Masters and Tiger this week....seems pretty definite to me.

Anyways, I know it's been awhile. I do want to point out that I think my blog is cursed. I realize how it is pretty difficult to pick the correct winner each week, but most of my picks have sucked it up majorly. At the Zurich, Watney didn't even make the cut! His first time to not make a cut this season! I jinxed the poor bastard. Or rich gentleman as the case may be.

On another note, I don't really care for Watney's shirt. It's like he has green pit stains.

"You're a big loser, you loser"

Just me or was it refreshing to see Tiger playing around while Feherty teased him for being a loser? Usually when Tiger walks off 18 knowing he's not taking home the trophy, he's pretty pissed. He'll do the interview but you know he wants to get home and practice so he can go out next week and win. Sure he smiles, but don't let that fool you. He's all business.

Most of the time.

It was great seeing him laugh and call himself "not even the first loser." He was laughing about something with George McNeill as he left the 18th, laughed when Feberty jokingly called him a loser, and apparently was also shown playing with O'Hair's daughter.

I absolutely love that.

Read this today on pga tour confidential:

"This is not the same guy who had steam coming out of his ears at Augusta. I guess that's the difference between a major and a non-major. Either that or someone told Woods it doesn't matter — his legend is pretty secure no matter what happens from here on out. I like lighthearted Tiger better."

I agree.
